Its the most wonderful time of the year….
Its the time of year where school is right around the corner and families are trying to get that one last trip to the lake in before all the fall routines commence for another year. School supplies are being bought and schedules are being made for classes, extra-curricular activities, and groceries bills are once again going up to cover off all of the lunch-time needs of the kids at school
This fall as we look ahead to another year at school, there are a few things we need to be mindful of as a province:
School Zones
Watch your speed and keep it below 30kmh in the zones that are laid out in your community. The fines triple when you are caught speeding in a school zone, and what is worse we put children at risk when we are in a hurry and dont heed the warnings given.
Stop for School Busses
When the red lights are flashing and that stop sign is out, please stop for busses and keep a watchful eye on the road for children crossing the street. Do not proceed with your travels until the lights have ceased to flash, and the stop sign has been retracted
Keep our kids safe
If you see suspicious activity such as bullying, lurking or if you hear of a missing child, contact police immediately to provide information to the authorities. Fast action could prevent a tragedy, so be on the look out this fall. If you are able to step in and intervene on behalf of a child, do so but ONLY if it is safe.
University and College
If you have a student returning to university or college, make sure that they have insurance in place to cover their belongings while they are away studying, and make sure that you have health coverage in place should they be studying outside our province.
Wherever you find yourself this fall, make sure to have a safe and rewarding school year! Best wishes to our students and parents this school season.
